Drax Vs Points Based Systems
Drax Golf Club is a private course managed on a 'not-for-profit' owned by its members. This enables us to provide affordable golf, on a high-quality golf course for the benefit of the local community.
Points based membership systems are typically aimed at the infrequent golfer who still wants to be a member of a golf club. For a one off fee (typically £325), members are given 100 points and have the ability to use 80 points at your selected home club and 20 flexi points can be used at any of the other partner golf clubs in the UK. That’s roughly £3.25 per point!
Let’s take a look at the numbers…
Drax Golf Club
The proposed and agreed subscription rates for the next 12 months from 1st April 2019 to 31st March 2020 shall be as follows:
That’s right, by joining Drax Golf Club you can enjoy UNLIMITED, high quality golf for just £9.13 a week.
Points Based System
Each round of golf will reduce your points balance. The number of points per round is dependent on time and day of the week as per the matrix below.
So, if a Drax member was to play three times a week at a points based course, as they do at Drax, they would reduce their points balance by 19 points per week (Based on a round being played: Monday + Thursday + Saturday ).
That means after just over 5 weeks, you would run out of points! This is exactly why these schemes are aimed at the infrequent golfer whereas Drax are able to offer affordable, flexible golf membership options for all golfers.
