Winter Rules 2018/2019
To further protect our fairways from damage during the winter months, so that they can be at their best during other periods of the year, when 'Winter Rules' are in play (as indicated by the signage near the first tee and on the website) please follow the below rulings:
-
Through the green, a ball that is embedded may be lifted, cleaned and dropped, without penalty, as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the course through the green. (Appendix 1 Part A 3a of the Rules of Golf).
-
A ball lying on a closely-mown area through the green may be lifted without penalty and cleaned. Before lifting the ball, the player must mark its position. Having lifted the ball, he must place it on a spot within six inches of and not nearer the hole than where it originally lay, that is not in a hazard and not on a putting green. (Appendix 1 Part A 3b of the Rules of Golf)
To further protect our golf course from damage during the winter months, so that they can be at their best during other periods of the year, we are implementing rules regarding the use of golf trolleys.
When 'Winter Rules' are in play (as indicated by the signage near the first tee and on the website) you MUST use one of the following options:
-
Use a carry bag.
-
Use winter ‘hedgehog’ wheels on your golf trolley** - for examples, see:
Watch this video to see why hedgehog wheels are so important for golf clubs in winter:
Hedgehog wheel covers can also be purchased from the club for £16.00, please speak to Matthew Forde or Denise Smith for details.
Please also try to use available paths wherever possible when using a golf trolley or when carrying your bag.
Many thanks for your co-operation.
