April has seen a steady start to the season at Drax Golf Club. Already it looks like there will be a season with plenty of different players picking up the spoils.
Colin Taylor kicked the competitive year off with a tremendous nett 62 in the monthly medal winning division 3 by a good margin. It was closer in division 1 where Neil 'Gawain' Tams came out on top, with Jordan Barton doing just enough to win division 2. The Midweek medal saw Matthew Forde taking Division 1, with Jake Pierrepont-Smith scoring his first win at Drax in Division 2, joined by serial winner Neil Hathaway taking Division 3.
The Senior medal in April was another first win, this time for Bob Fotheringham with a nett 65, just piping Tommy Jackson’s fine 66. Long standing Senior, Joe Threadgold from Sykehouse, clinched the summer’s first Rabbits major, winning the Completion Cup. At the same time Phil Skilbeck was easily winning the Deborah Bowl for the Tigers section with a fine nett 66, just edging out Matt Graves by 1 shot.
As May dawns there is a packed program of fixtures, including the popular Spring Open on the 18th which is open to male and female players of all abilities.
