Welcome to night seven of our virtual 2020 Drax Golf Club Presentation Evening(s). 🎙
As you will probably be aware, this year we are celebrating our 30th anniversary. 🥳 To help celebrate, we want to share with you the history of our club competitions and their origins.
Whilst Drax Golf Club as we know it has been running for 30 years, our history dates back much further than that. Back in the mid-1980s, Drax Golf Society was formed by a group of power station workers at nearby Drax Power Station. The society at the time would organise outings and away days at courses across the country. ⛳️
Upon 'completion' of the power station being built, the golf society introduced "The Completion Cup" to commemorate the end of works commissioning units 4, 5 and 6 on the station. 🏗
Whilst we don't have an exact number to hand, we know that this year's worthy winner joins a long list of victors over the last 30 - 40 years.
