Deborah Bowl Winner Announced

It's night 8 of our virtual 2020 Drax Golf Club Presentation Evening(s) which also means it's night two of our brief history lessons to celebrate our 30th Anniversary.🥂

Yesterday we told you how The Completion Cup got its roots from the completion of commissioning units 4, 5 and 6 on the station. 🏗

Tonight's competition, The Deborah Bowl has very similar origins. Back in the 1980s, long before the golf course at Drax was built and completed in 1990, Drax Golf Society would enjoy days out at golf courses across Yorkshire and further afield. During this time, the society asked contractors who were working on the construction of the power station to subsidise events or provide trophies. This is how the Deborah Bowl was born. ⛳

The Deborah Bowl was donated by one of the societies subsidies, Deborah Scaffolding Ltd who were assisting with the construction of the power station of the time. How many of you thought the competition was named after a lady?

Congratulations to our 2020 Deborah Bowl winner, Chris Keighley. 🏆
