It’s January in the UK, which means some courses are playing on "Winter Greens." But what happens if your ball lands on the main green that is currently closed? Under Rule 13.1f, the main green is now considered a Wrong Green.

The Rule: You must take free relief if your ball is on a wrong green, or if the wrong green interferes with your stance or area of intended swing.
The Fix: Find your nearest point of complete relief (usually in the fringe or rough), no closer to the hole, and drop within one club-length.
Complete Relief is Key: You cannot stand on the wrong green to hit a ball that is lying just off it. You must move entirely off the green!
Pro Tip: This rule exists to protect the grass during the frost. Playing from the wrong green in a competition actually results in a General Penalty (two strokes), so keep those wedges away from the summer greens!
